24, you need to cite your sources. I've got 20 hits spread out over four domains. Why should I care about a phrase arguably in common use by four people? Restore it after you cite your sources. Thanks. Koyaanis Qatsi, Sunday, April 7, 2002
- [old version deleted] done. thanks, there are many synonyms for this term, and now they all redirect. There needs to be a separate article on consumer boycott, and moral/ethical purchasing could reasonably be defined as "respecting all boycotts" where those who call them converge with your beliefs. The most extreme version of moral purchasing I've seen goes at it from the money side, see "Smart Money", Anselm Hook, which would actually enforce some ethical criteria in the financial medium itself.24
- The term "ethical purchasing" is much more prevalent, but if anyone learned about ethics here, they'd learn that "ethics is the science of morality", and the systems proposed are generally not all that "scientific" or even systematized. I think "moral purchasing" is the broader and more inclusive term (i.e. you can decide not to buy something because you don't like the maker's morality in some vague sense you can't explain, that may not be "ethical" but it is "moral") and that is why it is used as the filename. If that's controversial, it belongs in there as a note. On the other hand, presumably you must FIND OUT somehow what went into the product or service, so you rely on labels or systems of validating labels or lists of brands not to buy or something... those are definitely systems of ethics... that too could be in here but it's a narrow point of interest mostly to philosophers. 24
- Community-Based Economics or LETS could be mentioned, too, as it is much easier to keep tabs on the morality of locals without such ethical systems of labelling...
Try not to use more common language, it will enhance readability immensly. In addition, i detect that in some paragraphs, the subject seems to float away a bit. Keeping it tight and focused would again enhance the impact of the article. Keep slugging at it :-) Anders Törlind
