The article says "multicellular organism", but it doesn't looke like there is any intention of including plants. I moved it to Category:Zootomy. --Jerzy(t) 19:23, 2004 Sep 6 (UTC)

This Category should be merged with Category:Immunology. Nina 19:09, 22 Oct 2004 (UTC)
The two topics share loads of overlap but they're sufficienctly distinct; I don't see a need to merge the two. I like the hierarchy of Category:Cardiology and Category:Cardiovascular system (the former is a subcategory of the latter). And since Immunology : Immune system :: Cardiology : Cardiovascular system, I think the immuno categories should be handled similarly: immunology should be a subcategory of immune system. --Diberri | Talk 20:35, Oct 22, 2004 (UTC)
I see the point in doing subcategories. I was just a bit confused because in the German wikipedia we only have "Immunology" as a category. this system is a bit more complicated, but more detailed, of course. Sorry, Nina 10:44, 23 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Immunology and Immune system category issues

[edit]

I am beginning to lean towards one big category for both immune system and immunolgy, with Immune system as the parent. The problem is that it is difficult to decide (for me at least) which pages belong in Category:Immunology and which ones belong in Category:Immune system. Perhaps a bit of input from others would be useful in deciding which articles should go in which category. From the cat headings:

"Immunology is the study of the immune system and its reaction to pathogens...The medical field that deals with these diseases is called clinical immunology"

--and--

"The immune system refers to all of the cells, tissues, organs and processes that protect an organism from invasion by pathogens. Viruses, bacteria, parasites, and some toxins are some of pathogens that the immune system is involved in eliminating from the body."

So it would seem to me that all of the immune system diseases, techniques and immunologists should be in Immunology. While all of descriptive pages for cell types, cytokines, pathways, and receptors should go in Immune system? Any thoughts? To make things more complicated, it seems that as it stands now, category:immunology is a subcategory of category:immune system, and category:immune system is a subcategory of category:immunology. I did not know that it is possible to "loop" categories that way! Let's just merge them.

Please do not go about any sort of merging here, these are too different aspects. See here also. Cats are often linked and looped to guide the user, it doesn't complicate anything. Wikipedia:Categorization might be a helpful read. --DO11.10 05:19, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Should this be separated to "Innate immune system" and "Adaptive immune system" sub-categories?Biophys 04:06, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
