Cleanup recommended
[edit]- References - conflict. I will provide two good source articles coming from museum type organizations.
- Sentence syntax/composition. Let's simplify it. Ex.: In 1856, whilst working on the construction of a flume at a mine at American Bar, Hallidie was consulted over the rapid rate of wear on the ropes used to lower cars of rock from the mine to the mill. Could read: In 1856, while working on a mine's flume construction in/at American Bar, Hallidie was consulted about the rapid wear rate on ropes used to lower rock laden card from the mine to the mill.
- Notes/References. Recommend going to the standard ref syntax that places a numerical superscript and then in the Reference section, numbered footnotes with linkable statements.
- Sources. Going to the ref syntax would allow for this bio to have other online sources provided. Ronbo76 19:36, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Possible sources
[edit]- San Franciscan Andrew Smith Hallidie Patented the First Cable Car (short but sweet article)
- Most of the facts agree with your article and one is your already sourced article.
- Confusion in birthplace is solved by looking at first two referenced articles in this paragraph. The son was born in London; the father in Scotland (confusion maybe in other sources due to same name).
- This individual is an important man in San Francisco, CA and state history. We need to get it right. Ronbo76 19:47, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
