I'm not sure what you mean. In solid state physics, any regular atomic lattice is referred to as a "crystal". Cubic, fcc, bcc, etc. are all referred to as crystal structures. -- CYD
- That's what I thought two. Separating the subjects, IMO, is like splitting hairs. It is also annoying because about 100 element articles have a link to crystal structure that intends to go to a page describing the different crystal shapes. --mav
I tend to agree. However, I also know both terms do not mean the same thing for cristallographers.
And though annoying to fix all the links, I also think it is not the best way to promote growth than to reduce a field by simply making some redirections between two words which look a lot similar.
Somehow, I see it a bit as me trying to open the field of agriculture and waste, and see all my links being made simple redirections to agriculture and sewage treatment. This is very highly discouraging. And in truth discouraged me. User:anthere
Trying to think about this page, I think it would be logical that all the pages go on redirecting to crystal structure, but that part of this article content be in crystal structure rather than in this one. I think we could stick to the 7 "basic" form, with a representation of these 7 forms. Which would be clearer I think. Then, some of these forms do have several sub-forms and these sub forms could be in articles about each of the specific form.
Mentionned btw, there is a spelling mistake in the title of one of the top right pict. One of the rhombo pict. A letter is missing. Ant
- IMO, the small nuisance of difference between "mineral structure" and "crystal structure" is not enough to warrant two different articles given the small amount of info now in the articles. Your idea of spinning off the detail about the sub-forms is a very good one. --mav

Crystal structure or Crystalline structure is a concept fundamental to many areas of science and technology. In mineralogy, crystals are grouped into seven systems according to their symetry.
The simplest and most symetrical, the isometric system, is represented by the cube. The other six systems, in order of decreasing symetry, are hexagonal, tetragonal, trigonal, orthorhombic, monoclinic and triclinic.
