[edit]

Hi Flash-Gordon,

A couple of minor points I noticed. One point, your user page is your own, but it's considered bad form and suspicious to blank your talk page. Second point, I noticed on a recent picture upload you said that you took the photo and gave permission for it to be used on Wikipedia, and also said 'no rights reserved'.

"Permission" images aren't allowed here because we have downstream users who might sell your content. (They still have to abide by the GFDL terms, but the fact remains that your work can be used by anybody in the future, not just the Wikipedia web site.) I would recommend you license it under the GFDL (and say so on the image talk page), or possibly use the pd-self tag to release it into the public domain if you really want 'no rights reserved'.

Thanks - Tempshill 23:46, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - all you have to do is go to the image page, click "edit this page" at the top, and change the license to whatever you'd like. See Wikipedia:Copyright tags for an exhaustive list. One more thing - when leaving a person a message, you should sign it with four tilde marks (~~~~), which automatically puts your name and date inline with the text, so people know who's writing them. Thanks! Tempshill 23:54, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Genesis_2.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 09:28, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again! First of all, good to see you have registered. Second, one last comment on edit summaries. You were frustrated that we didn't even take the time to thoroughly analyse your edits. Well that's what the edit summary is for: explaining what you did in the edit (and not trying to convince everyone that you're doing the good thing, like you did in the beginning). Believe me, us, recent changes patrollers, have such suspicious edits flowing in every few seconds - we have no time to ponder on the edits' contents. All those explanations that you wrote on my talk page should have either gone in the edit summaries or the article's talk page (and then you should have referred people to there from the summary). I hope that you'll now understand our perception of the situation. Happy editing! --Misza13 T C 10:24, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Batman Returns

[edit]

I've reverted the bot for the last couple of edits, it shouldn't revert me as an admin, so hopefully your version will stick. Thanks for the work. --pgk(talk) 21:35, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I think it was the page size matcher thingie filter that got triggered, I see its fixed now, sorry about that and thanks for the note -- Tawker 22:25, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:1997 993 GT1.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:1997 993 GT1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 21:10, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. This also applies to Image:993 GT1.jpg, Image:Rt 12.jpg, and any other promotional images of existing cars you may have uploaded. Thanks for your understanding. – Quadell (talk) (random) 18:24, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Rosemeyer.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 08:06, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:King of The Mountain Poster.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:King of The Mountain Poster.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 18:25, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Flash-Gordon! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 691 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. William Fenning - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of William Fenning

[edit]

The article William Fenning has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG. Appears to be a family memorial, has been tagged for many years. Just a guy who ran a non-notable local business.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Orphaned non-free image File:RUF Logo.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:RUF Logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:35, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
