Can we assume that every island is an ecoregion? I'm tempted to put Category:Islands as a subcat of this cat, and then remove all the islands from this cat. —Ashley Y 02:24, 2004 Nov 15 (UTC)
- I don't think it's that simple, tho' it probably depends on how you define ecoregions--at this[1] scale, I'd say clearly not. On a more granular scale, relatively large, somewhat isolated islands like Sri Lanka or Iceland might be considered distinct ecoregions. But I really doubt each island of the Azores, Galapagos, Hawaii, or Maldives is its own ecoregion, but I don't think each entire group is necessarily one single unique ecoregion, either. And coastal groups like the San Juan Islands seem likely to have some overlap with either neighboring islands or groups, and/or parts of the mainland coast. 24.17.48.241 18:06, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
