[edit]Although some English WP references use "é", I find no reference in my print sources that do so, nor in the French WP. A couple places give his first name as "Joseph-Simon", dunno how authoritative though. Stan 17:38, 19 Dec 2004 (UTC)
"The actual effects of the "taxicab army" on the French victory at the Marne may have been more modest than the myth." Any citation for this, or shall we just chalk it up to yet another wikipedia page determined to minimize French military accomplishments?204.195.156.74 (talk) 21:02, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
- Any serious student of the First World War knows that the French contribution was very much greater than tends to remembered in Anglo-Saxon history. However, the "taxicab army" was a mere five battalions in a battle involving four or five armies on the Allied side, and in an attack which did not itself succeed. I've no evidence that it was planned as propaganda, but it was certainly used that way. Paulturtle (talk) 03:45, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
