Homosexuality
[edit]Since this is a Living person, I don't want to make a libelous addition of Category:LGBT people from the United States and Category:LGBT writers, but this article clearly mentions "his homosexuality." Does anyone have a citation from Richie himself? Heroeswithmetaphors (talk) 13:10, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- Also this blog calls him "the gay Lafcadio Hearn," but we still need a real source. Can somebody please cite The Japan Journals: 1947-2004? Heroeswithmetaphors (talk) 14:53, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- Richie writes of his homosexuality in Japan Journals though he by no means considers himself a "gay writer." In fact, Richie dislikes labels and the idea of "belonging to groups", whether the group be "Americans," "homosexuals," whatever...I suggest you begin with Japan Journals. Also, I believe a review of Japan Journals in the New York Review of Books by Ian Buruma mentions Richie's homosexuality...Gobledeegooke (talk) 03:33, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
