Continuity Error
[edit]This article states both that Menzies attended Sandhurst and that he never went to university. Which is it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.91.187.194 (talk) 07:36, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
I had an uncle attend Sandhurst 1919–1920 aged 18/19. He received his commission and was a Colonel in WWII. (His five older brothers were officers in WW1. They went on to attend university in the 1920s.) This Wikipedia section on RMC Sandhurst [1] states 'The college was a training facility for cavalry and infantry officers of the British and Indian Armies, primarily teaching military science, history, and athletics. Unlike other military colleges, such as West Point, it never granted degrees or other academic qualifications.'
Archived Sandhurst material here [2] states 'The days of Sandhurst being full of cadets educated at private schools have passed and now more than 50% of cadets come from state-funded education, with around 90% holding university degrees'.--Brenont (talk) 02:43, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
Menzies at Pyry?
[edit]In July 1939 he personally traveled to Warsaw to negotiate with the Polish Cryptographic Bureau about the Enigma machine.
This seems to be a myth, now thoroughly debunked [3], [4]; I don't think it's worth mentioning simply as a misconception, so I've moved it here. — Matt
Probable misuse of the word "decimation"
[edit]Decimation means a reduction of 10%. Are you sure that the casualty level at Ypres wasn't much higher than that? Prescottbush (talk) 04:39, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
