Rest naming
[edit]The rest naming and numbering is misleading and not standard. The images should be redrawn, rest names should be R1 (indole-1 position), Ramide (amide N-substituent)... Cacycle 19:24, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Split
[edit]I oppose the splitting off of information on the ergoline derivatives. Most of the article is about them, including most of the material that was not split off. At the least, the splitted article should not be orphaned as it currently is. I'm going to re-insert the material just to make it available until either the split is abandonded or someone can re-craft the main article to properly refer to the derivatives article.--Russell E 11:41, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
I do not see why there should be an article 'ergoline derivatives', if this article just gets a {{chembox new}}/{{drugbox}}, then all the derivatives can get a link there (field Other Compounds), and this directory like information can just go. This article is about the main ergoline, an article on all the derivatives is going to be a huge list of compounds, seen the number of possible substituents. Most of the articles mentioned here have an own article anyway, and the rest should have (one could consider a category for them, of course). --Dirk Beetstra T C 12:00, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- Moreover, most are already in the {{ergolines}}-box at the bottom. --Dirk Beetstra T C 12:06, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- I oppose the split, but I think the article desperately needs cleanup. Fuzzform 00:25, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Agree I am with the splitting of this article to the ergoline derivaties. The page Ergoline will be the Main article in the category:Ergolines which will contain compounds of different pharmacological categories. User:حسن علي البط
There is no consensus for this split, so I have removed the split tag. If there is a new split proposal, then a new tag with a new date needs to be placed on the article along with a rationale on this talkpage. SilkTork *YES! 22:05, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Drug-induced confusion?
[edit]"Ergoline is a chemical compound" (first sentence of lede). Then in Uses, there is no mention of the uses of this chemical compound. Instead there is a list of uses of related but different chemical compounds. I want to delete the Uses section. It may belong in another article, but it sure doesn't belong here. MrDemeanour (talk) 16:30, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
- This article is basically about ergolines (ergoline derivatives), not ergoline itself, which has no practical importance as far as I know. If you read on, you'll see that Natural occurrence and History also talk about ergoline derivatives. Not sure how this can be made clearer. (Rename article to Ergolines??) --07:15, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
- OK, so I edited the lede so it doesnt look as if the article is about the specific alkaloid 'ergoline'. MrDemeanour (talk) 14:38, 27 July 2017 (UTC)
