[edit]This notice is to disclose that I, User:Bernie44, was paid to revise this entry. Of course, I claim no ownership over it. Kosher food
[edit]Consistent with typical US county and city health codes, outside food is not permitted in restaurants and eating establishments. From time to time, you will see customers bring in beer and wine when the restaurant does not have a liquor license--there may be an additional corkage or glass fee for this privilege. Kosher establishments usually are subject to this stricture as well because allowing outside food in could compromise the kosher status of what is being served. If there is a kosher supervisor on-site, one can usually show him or her a package of say kids' cookies, show the kosher symbol, and ask that this be allowed in because this particular child always has a cookie after dinner. More likely, though, you want to have a beer with dinner, so ask! By the way, user 69.134.73.174, bringing dishes to the mikveh does not change their status from treif to kosher. MichelleInSanMarcos (talk) 01:29, 21 June 2018 (UTC)
- Strangely enough, Coffee Bean will not even allow customers to bring non Kosher food into their stores.
Any way of verifying this info? -Will Beback 08:48, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
I've never heard of them before reading this article, but I'm almost certain it's true. If a customer put non-kosher food onto any surface associated with kosher food, the food surface would become non-kosher and any food that came into contact with it would be kosher. So say a customer brought in a cheeseburger, put it down on some plate typically used for some food this place serves. In order to ever use that plate again (for kosher food), they would have to take the plate to a mikveh and have the whole process supervised by a Rabbi. Easier to not let people bring non-kosher food in than have to keep an eye out that they never set it down anywhere, or have to constantly be taking care of now non-kosher surfaces, plates, and untensils. 69.134.73.174 04:52, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- Anecdotally, I work at a Coffee Bean and we do have that rule written down (exact wording is "no other food or beverages (i.e. non-kosher) can be brought into or eaten inside our stores by our customers"). Evil saltine (talk) 07:32, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Smoking?
[edit]"Unlike Starbucks, Coffee Bean has fared fairly well in its entry into the Israeli coffee chain market. This can be attributed to its kosher food selection and the fact that it allows its patrons to smoke."
This kind of comes out of nowhere. Plus, it creates the false impression that, as this is a LA based chain, customers are allowed to smoke inside...in LA. Which is sadly not true. --Randomglitter 02:18, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- It's hardly sad. Mike Dillon 02:02, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- This information is incorrect, perhaps out-dated. The chain does not allow smoking inside, as it is in violation of the Israeli law. --Dor shemer 22:31, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Article Evaluation
[edit]Hello, I evaluated this article as a part of my composition class. I took a few notes, a few examples include, the history chunk of the article took up most of the page. You could separate it into more sections. Either than that, the article was unbiased and clear. It is informative on the topic and seems to keep up-to-date.
Here is the list of the notes that I took:
- The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf
- Article keeps everything relevant to the topic. doesn't veer off as much
- Unbiased, talks about the company history
- Talks mostly about the history for a big chunk of it, then much smaller amounts for the rest
- Numerous references; Magazines, News Articles, etc...
- Not much in talk section, mostly more info. on topic
- It is an informative topic, mostly on the history of the Coffee and Tea Leaf company

Your edit request could not be reviewed because the request is not formatted correctly.
- The citation style predominantly used by the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf article appears to use ref tags. The citation style used in the edit request consists of bare URL's.[a] Any requested edit of yours which may be implemented will need to resemble the current style already in use in the article – in this case, one that uses ref tags. (See WP:CITEVAR.)
- Citation ref tags have not been placed within the requested text indicating which portions of the text the source is referencing. (See WP:INTEGRITY.)
In the collapsed section below titled Request edit examples, I have illustrated two: The first shows how the edit request was submitted; the second shows how requests should be submitted in the future.

In the example above there are three URL's provided with the claim statements, but these URL's have not been placed using ref tags, which is the style predominantly used by the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf article. Additionally, ref tags have not been placed within the text at the exact positions where the information they reference resides. Using the correct style and the correct positioning of the ref tags, the WikiFormatted text should resemble the following:
In the example above the references have been formatted to use ref tags, which show the author, the source's name, date, etc. Also, the ref tags are placed in the exact location where the text which they reference resides. As Wikipedia is a volunteer project, edit requests such yours are generally expected to have this formatting done before the request is submitted for review. |
Kindly rewrite your edit request so that it aligns more with the second example shown in the collapsed section above, and feel free to submit that edit request in a new edit request below this reply post at your earliest convenience. If you have any questions about this formatting please don't hesitate to ask myself or another editor. Regards, Spintendo 01:08, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
Notes
- ^ The use of bare URLs as references is a style which is acceptable for use in Wikipedia. However, general practice dictates that the style already in use for an article be the one that is subsequently used for all future additions unless changed by editorial consensus.
