[edit]"This article is based on information received from secondary sources and which has not been independently verified with primary sources. Please verify with primary sources if possible and update as needed."
- I disagree. While the link is to a secondary source, the content there consists solely of links to primary sources such as an article written by Michelle Lazar, who "holds a baccalaureate degree in Music Therapy from Western Michigan University, with additional training in Neurologic Music Therapy from the Center for Biomedical Research in Music at Colorado State University" and children's musicians. I think they're qualified to make the claims in the article. For this reason, I have removed the disclaimer pending further discussion. I'm new here, so I may be misinterpreting the disclaimer, and if I have, I'll gladly restore it. Dave 00:38, Mar 14, 2005 (UTC)
- I can live with that, although it would be better to provide more independent links than those provided by just one company. Pavel Vozenilek 02:32, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
I'll add more, then. Dave 02:44, Mar 14, 2005 (UTC)
All right. Added 2 more. That means this stub has 14 articles supporting the idea that music promotes learning. Dave 02:59, Mar 14, 2005 (UTC):
- Just because it has 14 articles supporting the idea, it doesn't mean that all of the articles are credible and current. I have checked all of the references sources and unfortunately, there are only two credible and reliable sources.Triaser (talk) 00:35, 15 March 2019 (UTC)
"School music" as a genre
[edit]An argument can be made for "educational music" or "school music" to be treated as its own genre...and one that does not necessarily include music of the highest aesthetic value. Would be a good topic for expansion of this article; I may get around to writing something about it someday. OscarTheCat3 21:36, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Expanded substantially
[edit]This article has been expanded, including many references and more information. It may be good for it to be reviewed again. Hpadgett (talk) 19:50, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Problem with the section Effects of music in Education
[edit]The last section of the article, Effects of music in Education is vague and incomprehensible. There are four bullets points given in this section, and only one was given an explanation. It mentions the benefits of music without any proper and transparent explanation to back up the claim. For example, it mentions that Fewer student disciplinary referrals to the office and Higher attendance rates. How? How exactly does music contribute to the decrease in student disciplinary and increased attendance rates? Also, in the fourth bullet point, even though cited, still did not inform the audience the anecdotes by the teachers and made the audience to look for it themselves. Finally, when I looked for the cited page, I found out that whoever wrote this section copy and pasted the same word from the source. I suggest that this section is removed entirely and rewritten to make this article more informative and reliable to the Wikipedia Community.Triaser (talk) 02:35, 15 March 2019 (UTC)
